"Monroe Hodder’s recent paintings redirect her abstract canvases. After painting and experimenting with color for several decades, this master has found the ability to represent the newness of an artistic mind unconfined. Layers shift from the architectural as they excavate and reveal unearthed shapes and hyper modern matrix configurations." - ZQ Gallery, 2018.
Monroe earned her MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. She was a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome on five occasions and in 2019 was a Resident Artist at the Baer Art Center in Iceland. She exhibits worldwide and her work is in nine museum collections.
