Review

Monroe Hodder paintings … are bursting with saturated colors so highly pitched they seem to hurl themselves off the canvas.
Lily Wei, NY Art Critic, 2013
Her work is compelling, fascinating, with its juxtapositions of color and tone… The paintings are dangerous: they are so interesting that if I had one on my wall I'd have to stand (or sit) looking at it so long I wouldn't get anything else done.
Richmond Shepard, lively-arts.com, Dec 2011
London painter Monroe Hodder barely needs the natural light that floods her gallery show, so brightly do her canvases burn with color. Fields of tiered horizontal bands test the chromatic limits of abstract painting without eliminating associations to landscape and memory.
Kenneth Baker, SF Chronicle, June 17 2010
